In optics, precision is paramount. Accurate tolerances are essential for alignment, integration and testing, as well as optimum efficiency in day-to-day operation.
Our shims can be found in a wide variety of optical instruments and sensors, from everyday products to advanced equipment. They ensure that cameras produce the best possible images and head-up displays in aircraft are precise.
Evans Shims & Gaskets’ customers include the biggest names in optics, headquartered in Japan and Germany. These companies use our components for camera lenses, cine lenses and binoculars, along with industrial metrology and spectroscopy equipment.
We also supply the makers of research microscopes, as well as manufacturers of TV, film and broadcast lenses. Whatever your requirements, we’ll work closely with you from start to finish. Careful monitoring and partner audits ensure our products meet industry and regulatory standards.
For many optical applications, plastic shims have replaced those made of stainless steel. Often just as effective and a fraction of the cost, we stock a large variety of polyester films such as Mylar®, Hostaphan®, and Melinex®, as well as specialist plastics like polyimide film for thermal-imaging cameras.
We can supply PET (polyethylene terephthalate) parts down to just 5 microns (0.005mm) thick and all thicknesses can be easily identified by their European or U.S colour coding systems.
Whether you’re making today’s advanced optics or developing tomorrow’s, you can rely on us. We’ll continue to source advanced new materials and introduce new cutting techniques to ensure the highest standards of accuracy.
